"Modern zoos.
Zoos have only been around for maybe a couple 100 years.
But now we have these zoos, they're great big places where we're keeping animals.
And part part of uh what I read these days makes me believe many people think zoos have no place in society today.
There's a lot of evidence to show that animals in zoos are not better off than animals in nature.
And in many cases, they're worse off.
They're badly treated, they have shorter life spans, they get sick more often.
So it seems like zoos might be a bad.
Well, let's take a look at the um, purpose for having the zoos.
They're not just there for people to come and peek out at the strange animals.
That's certainly one point.
But they're also there to conserve many people would argue that we can keep the animals alive if they can't live outside in nature.
We can also study and research the animals.
We can also teach people about the animals through our zoos.
So do we have a place for zoos in today's society? Well, to begin with, it's not realistic to say close all the zoos.
That's simply not going to happen.
And some people say we should change the zoos, but I don't think that will happen very soon either.
And some people say keep them going.
But definitely there's a lot of people out there who feel the zoos are not taking good care of the animals, so they do need to be changed.

They're popular enough that they're not gonna go away.
Maybe we should look at how we run the zoos and make better zoos for the animals because we're probably not going to get rid of them overnight.
